pepe's first race...a chip of the old block...or not

we headed for nh on saturday early morning for my 9 am 5k, and pepe's 10:30 50 yards dash. we were all chipper in spite of a rainy cool day. we met grandma at the race and she and chris and pepe watched as i ran a pretty damn good race. post race we had some time to kill and i joined into the festivities (and yummy food) while pepe and chris and grandma found a playground. and then, well, pepe announce "i no running"..well, actually that's what he kept talking about all day but i thought he would change his mind. but no. so we headed home with this tshirt and number, and now i have to decide whether i should give him the t shirt or use the ol' running policy - no race, no tshirt and keep it for myself since it is anyway a small adult....pepe will have another chance on sunday next week when i am doing another 5K and there is a free kids dash as well. will see. but this weekend, he certainly made up all that "not done" race by running around gradma's house, going to children's museum an even taking a walk on the beach in the pouring rain. who knows, maybe we could have a noncompetitive child in our hands - but with such parents, it's just hard to imagine.
