was today. the girls turned three. there was a nice gathering of really nice people and kids, and low key and very pleasant. thank god i gave into taking some ibuprofen and my gum pain was so much better, so i was able to have fun as well. pepe was shy initially. he awoke rather abruptly from his nap, and i think we did not give him enough time to wake up (usually he tells us "i up" when he is ready to get out of the crib, and sometimes he spends quite a bit of time there all by himself singing, playing, talking). but we wanted to be on time for the party. we started on the wrong foot....i mean feet, by suggesting he wears the crocs - ok, this was me, thinking that putting the crocs on would be easier than socks and shoes...wrong, mostly because pepe can't figure out the left from the right... but i digress. so, with his crocks on, left in right, right in left, we went to the neighbours yard, which was filled with 5 3 y old girls, and 1 1 year old boy. when pepe saw that, he said he does not want to go. "i scared". we tried to help him out, but he started playing by himself on the deck, so we went to say hi. one of the girls, elenor, whom pepe knew from before, went and talked him into making an appearance. we also changed the crocks, and pepe immediately became himself. of course, pepe did not eat anything but cake and icecream. he was also a bit upset that he did not get to light the candle, but got over that quickly. when all left, the girls and pepe played some more. well, not really together. helli and pilar went into our house and gathered all the stuffies, and started to diaper them and talk about how they are pooping. eventually i got them out with one stuffy and a diaper each. i have to say, i loved playing with them, and i realize more and more how much i'd love to have a girl. everyone ran out of energy eventually, and we all went home. pepe is now sleeping, and he actually helped me read "good night moon" by describing the picture. a last happy bday to the two 3 y old cuties from next door.
